Sprinkler Risers & Swing Pipe
Risers and tubing set sprinkler head height and let crews build custom swing joints on site: threaded poly risers you cut to length, and flexible swing pipe (funny pipe) you bend to any angle.
Poly cut-off risers are threaded on both ends and trimmed to the exact height a sprinkler head needs, so one part covers a range of grade conditions. The tough polyethylene resists impact and corrosion underground, and the risers ship ½" × 6" by the case.
Swing pipe — almost everyone calls it funny pipe — is the flexible LDPE tubing at the heart of every swing joint. It bends at sharp angles without restricting flow, so you can route around obstacles and reach heads a rigid nipple can not. At .690" OD × .490" ID it pairs with standard funny-pipe fittings and our Marlex ells, and ships in a 100 ft coil.
Together with our irrigation fittings, these parts let you build swing joints to any length on site. Read what is funny pipe? for a primer, or the swing-joint build guide to put the pieces together.
Risers & Tubing products
2 productsSwing joints vs. fittings vs. risers & tubing
The irrigation line covers the sprinkler connection: swing joints flex the connection from the lateral line to the head, fittings turn and adapt the run, and risers & tubing set head height or build custom assemblies.
| Family | Primary purpose | Material | Size range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Swing Joints | Flexible connection from lateral line to sprinkler head; set height/angle, absorb impact | LDPE tubing, Celcon M90 fittings, Marlex HDPE ells | ½"–¾", 6" & 12" |
| Irrigation Fittings | Elbows, male adapters, and Marlex street ells for lateral lines and risers | PVC / Marlex HDPE | ½"–¾" |
| Risers & Tubing (this page) | Cut-to-height risers and flexible swing pipe for custom on-site assemblies | Polyethylene (LDPE) | ½" |
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
- What is funny pipe?
- Funny pipe — also called swing pipe — is flexible LDPE tubing used to connect a sprinkler head to a lateral line. It bends at sharp angles without restricting flow, letting you position heads precisely and absorb impact. Ours is .690" OD × .490" ID and ships in 100 ft coils.
- How do poly cut-off risers work?
- A poly cut-off riser is threaded on both ends and cut to length, so you trim it to set a sprinkler head at the exact height the grade requires. The polyethylene resists impact and corrosion for long underground service.
- What fittings does swing pipe work with?
- Our swing pipe pairs with standard funny-pipe fittings and Marlex HDPE street ells, the same components used in our pre-assembled swing joint assemblies, so you can build custom-length swing joints on site.
